On December 31, 2021, Zhejiang University held a commendation ceremony for the students who made remarkable performances in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Mr. Ren Shaobo, Secretary of the CPC Committee, Zhejiang University presented the Qiushi Medal of Honor to the winners and delivered a speech. President Wu Zhaohui presented Zhu Kezhen Scholarship to the winners. Yan Jianhua, Wu Xiaocheng and Wu Jian, leaders of the University announced the list of winners and presented the awards of “Top Ten Students”, honorary titles and scholarships of Zhejiang University and the scholarships set by enterprises and organizations with other university leaders, e.g. Ye Min, He Lianzhen, Zhou Tianhua and Fu Qiang.

After conveying his congratulations to the winners, Ren said that, in 2021, the University will continue to follow the direction guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping, be rooted in Chinese land, climb the world peak, and strive to “march in the forefront” on the road to be a world-class university with Chinese characteristics and to celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with actions. Besides, the students and teachers have realized their values in serving major national and regional strategies as well as the rapid progress of the University. Looking to the future, he encouraged students to popularize the philosophy of seeking truth and aim high, with dreams in their hearts; to honor virtue and acquire knowledge, with light in their eyes; to uphold sincerity, seriousness, enlightenment and truth, with strength in their hands; to have a sense of mission to the world and honor truth, with responsibilities on their shoulders. In addition, he motivated students to cherish the “greatness of China”, to endeavor to “march at the forefront” and to be new people in the era who shoulder the task of national rejuvenation nurtured by the enduring history, quintessence and the vision of the University. He later expressed that the University, honoring the support of alumni and the community for the reform and development, will write a new chapter in the progress to be a world-class one with Chinese characteristics at high quality and high level, and be dedicated to 20^th CPC Congress with wonderful results achieved through student-centered quality education, innovated paradigms, governance system and governance capacity modernization.

In the academic year of 2020-2021, more than 36,000 student-times were awarded scholarships and honorary titles, 208 classes the titles of “Advanced Class”, 639 dormitories the titles of “Civilized Dormitory”, 12 undergraduates and 12 postgraduates “Zhu Kezhen Scholarship”, and 10 students were recognized as “Top Ten Students”.

Meanwhile, in the academic year of 2020-2021, generous donations from alumni, foundations and top businesses for scholarships, grants and international exchanges amounted to over RMB 59 million yuan, benefiting 5,000-odd student-times, contributing a lot to the first-class undergraduate education and excellent postgraduate education of Zhejiang University.

At the commendation ceremony, several representatives of donating businesses expressed their care and support to the students and teachers in teleconferencing, including Qiu Yibo, Director of Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co., Ltd. and Chairman and President of Hengyi Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Shu Ling, Executive Deputy Secretary General of Guoqiang Foundation, Hu Baishan, President of Zhejiang New Harmony Union Holding Co., Ltd., Hong Jie, General Manager of Zhejiang Branch of Xiaomi Group China, Zhu Qingxun, Deputy Director of Huawei Hangzhou Research Institute, Liu Jiming, Chairman of Hong Kong Elite Industrial Development Group Co., Ltd., Xu Jianrong, President of Ningbo Runhe High-Tech Materials Technology Co., Ltd., Xu Mingliang, Chairman of Guangzhou Zhongcaoji Cosmetics Co., Ltd., Du Haitao, General Manager of Zhejiang Yihai Jiali Food Industry Co., Ltd., Xiang Wei, Chairman of Wenzhou Kangerda Industrial Co., Ltd, and Lu Xiaojian, President of Zhejiang Jiecang Co, Ltd. 

The ceremony was held online and offline, with the heads of relevant departments and schools, representatives of outstanding students offline and some students, parents,  businesses and organizations from outside online, and they witnessed the achievements of Zhejiang University in its cultivation of excellent students and shared the joy and glorious moments together.
